While the original unit was blue, the composite two-piece chassis used on this RTR is black and the front lower plate where the servo and steering linkage are located is also black.
It was late in 2013 when Traxxas let the world know that they had finally produced their own LCG chassis, that is about an inch lower that the stock chassis, for the 2WD Slash as an aftermarket item. These aluminum caps are less likely to pull apart from the shock body and they look sharp, too. While it is easy to screw them back together the oily mess is no fun to clean up.
